What creggles is

creggles carry over the principle behind craggles: several small pieces whose shape means every position is the right one. Tossed onto the table they lie ready as trivets, and a few of them carry a pan of any size.

What's new is what else sits in the same shape: a three-point rest that holds an egg — whatever its size or form. The trivet becomes an egg cup without a single additional part, and without turning anything over: the piece is symmetrical about its mid-plane, top and bottom identical. The material is heat-resistant silicone up to 220 °C, dishwasher-safe and stackable; they are sold as a set of six in a metal tin.

What creggles does differently

• Two functions, one shape. No attachment, no mechanism, no second part — the geometry does both.
• There is no wrong side. The piece is symmetrical about its mid-plane, top and bottom identical. That is why the egg cup needs no turning over — however it lands, it is right.
• The three-point rest doesn't care about egg size. Three points of contact hold any shape and diameter, with no hollow anything has to fit into.
• Better than the original. Tip resistance and grip as a pan trivet were improved over craggles without touching what craggles did.
• The shape is protected too. As with its predecessor, both a word mark and a 3D trade mark are registered.

Why MANOVIS built creggles

After withdrawing from distribution, MANOVIS spent years developing products for others — for other brands, and, in the classic mechanical-engineering work, for customers across very different industries. craggles lay dormant through that period, though the rights stayed in-house.

Going back through our own old designs, an egg cup resurfaced whose basis was a three-point rest. We had always found that concept remarkable, because it works regardless of the egg's shape or size — three points of contact are enough, no fitted hollow required. That became the occasion to build a homage to craggles: the product had been available across much of the western world, and it deserved a return.

The new shape again lands ready to be used as a trivet — and we improved its tip resistance and grip over the predecessor. The real work lay in building the three-point rest into that same geometry so that the trivet function stays untouched and an egg cup comes out of it anyway. Two in one, without compromising either side.

The name keeps it close to the original while hinting at the second function: the egg in creggles. A side effect of the slightly larger shape: creggles work better than the original craggles as a promotional gift.
